Prayers Before & After Meals
The Orthodox blessing of the table, and the thanksgiving that follows it.
Before the Meal
The poor shall eat and be satisfied, and they that seek the Lord shall praise Him; their hearts shall live forever.
Our Father, who art in heaven…
O Christ God, bless the food and drink of Thy servants, for Thou art holy, always, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
After the Meal
We thank Thee, O Christ our God, that Thou hast satisfied us with Thy earthly gifts; deprive us not of Thy heavenly Kingdom, but as Thou camest among Thy disciples, O Savior, and gavest them peace, come to us and save us. Amen.
